2 weeks back we rec'd 2 yr EAD renewal expiring August 2010 TSC, current EAD expired 08/20/2008.
EB2 - I
PD : Feb 2006
I-140 approved Nov 2006.

Hi All
Cheques were encashed for my and my wife's I-485, I-765, I-131 application.
I have received the receipt numbers for all from the back of the cheques.
When I access the receipt number for one of the I-765 Uscis shows the following update :
On September 19, 2007, we received this I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION and request that we waive the filing fee. We have waived the filing fee and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.
What does waived the filling fee mean ?? why did they do that ?? Also if they waived the filling fee, why did USCIS encash the cheques ??

Reason syill not known and waiting for the denial notice..
Priority date is Nov'20 2007
My I-140 receipt date is Feb'20 2009..
Does the date impact my h1 extension??

Wait for 90 days to pass by...then give a call to USCIS ....and enquire about her status...

Here is what you get when you apply for student loans without GC/US Citizenship:
1. Trust loans (called Stafford loans also).
2. Need US Citizen co-signor. A co-signor with good credit scores helps in keeping the interest rates down.
3. Even with a US Citizen co-signor with good credit score, the interest rates are usually way higher that what a GC holder gets.
4. If you have more than one loan (every year/semester of college corresponds to a loan, though you may not have to go through the paper work formalities from the second year/semester to get the loan), you are NOT allowed to consolidate your loans during payoff. Consolidation helps bring down the monthly payment amount when the time comes to repay the loans.
5. Variable interest rates. Looking at the past few years, interest rates have never dropped, only moved north. To give you an idea it could be anywhere between 15 to 18% now to begin with.
In a nutshell, student loan is a very costly affair if you do not have GC/US Citizenship. The good thing is, there are no pre-payment penalties.

I had applied for Labor Substitution/140/485/EAD concurrently on July 2nd. If I understand the process correctly, I would receive 3 different receipt notices and 3 different approvals for LC/140/485?
I have applied in NSC. What is the approximate processing times for approving:
1. Labor Substitution
2. I 140
3. I 485.
Also, will they start processing 485 only after LC and 140 are approved?

I believe MS + 2 is good enough if your company supports it and your lawyer is not too conservative in filing (both are important)... I heard the perm is more inclined to reject EB2 than EB3 though. the lawyer needs to therefore prepare a good case.

If you see data.
Approvals started happening only in JUNE, JULY, AUG, SEP.
So all applications till first few weeks of JUNE have got VISA numbers and are getting approved.
Those who filed after JUNE 15th, need to wait till next week i.e Oct 1, to get VISA assigned.
But only those current in Oct will get VISA number assigned.
Also worry is they may take it easy and wait till next May/June to start the RUSH or if they keep the pace, then the july fiasco is acutally a boon to all waiting . Imagine, the GC process time is 3-4 months now instead of years.
Things have definitely changed for better at USCIS due to fiasco.

Mine was received by NSC on Mar 22, 2007 and transfered to TSC on Apr 29 2008. I am on EB3.
